Terms of Service

Puja Parikrama is a free service that helps you find Durga Puja and other puja pandals in and around Kolkata, plan a walking route between them, and see conditions reported by other visitors. It is an informational and planning tool. It is not affiliated with, and not endorsed by, any puja committee, the Kolkata Police, the metro, or any government body.

The service is operated by Arunabha Banerjee, an individual developer based in India.

Some features need a Google sign-in. You are responsible for the account you sign in with and for what happens under it. Give us accurate information, and keep your contact details current if you want a reply. You may stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We put real effort into getting the details right, but you must treat everything in the app as a guide rather than an authority.

• •Pandal details and locations are collected from public sources and may be incomplete, out of date, or slightly off. Pandals move, change name, or do not open at all.
• •Festival dates and tithi timings are calculated astronomically or estimated. Panjikas differ, and the authoritative source for any ritual timing is your own panjika or priest.
• •Routes, distances and arrival times assume a steady walking pace and do not account for traffic, road closures, diversions, barricading or crowds. Real journeys take longer.
• •Metro and transit information is for orientation only. Check official sources for timings, gates and service changes.
• •Crowd and rain reports come from other users, are not verified by us, and may be wrong or out of date.

Pandal hopping means large crowds, busy roads and long walks, often at night. Please pay attention to your surroundings rather than your phone, follow police and volunteer instructions, and keep children and elderly companions close.

Never use the app while riding or driving. You are responsible for your own safety and for the choices you make about where to go and when.

Crowd reports, photos, pandal requests, messages and listings you send are your contributions. By sending them, you confirm you have the right to do so, and you give us permission to use, store and display them in the service, including in combined form such as an average queue level.

Report conditions honestly. Deliberately false reports mislead people who are standing in the street deciding where to walk next, and we may remove contributions and restrict accounts that abuse this.

Photos are held to a higher standard, because everyone can see them. Only share a photo you took, or have the right to share, and only of the pandal itself. Do not share a photo that:

• •is sexual, violent, hateful, or offensive to any religion or community;
• •shows a person up close who has not agreed to it, or has a child as its subject;
• •contains advertising, contact details, watermarks or text laid over it;
• •belongs to someone else, or shows a different place from the pandal it is added to.

You keep the copyright in your photos. By sharing one, you let us show it in the app and on the website, with your first name, for as long as it stays up. Every photo is reviewed before it appears, anyone can report a photo, and we remove photos and stop accounts from sharing when these rules are broken. You can delete your own photos at any time.

Sending a partnership enquiry or a pass listing does not create a contract, guarantee placement, or guarantee publication. We review submissions, may decline any of them, and will confirm scope, dates and price separately before anything runs.

If you submit a pandal pass listing, you confirm you are authorised by that puja committee to do so, and that the details are accurate. You remain responsible for honouring what you advertise, including price, availability and entry conditions.

The app does not currently show ads. If that changes, this section and the Privacy Policy will be updated first. Any ads and offers would come from third parties, and dealings with an advertiser would be between you and them.

• •Do not use the service unlawfully, or to harass, threaten or endanger anyone.
• •Do not submit false, misleading, offensive or infringing content.
• •Do not attempt to break, overload, probe or bypass the security of the service.
• •Do not scrape, copy or redistribute the pandal data in bulk for a competing service without our permission.
• •Do not impersonate another person, business or puja committee.

The app links to and relies on services we do not control, including Google Maps, Google sign-in, map tiles from OpenFreeMap and map data from OpenStreetMap. When you use them, their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their content or availability.

The name Puja Parikrama, the app design, its text and its code belong to us and are protected by law. You may use the app for your personal, non-commercial planning. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the service or substantial parts of it without written permission. Map data remains the property of its own providers and is used under their licences.

The service is provided as it is, free of charge, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that information will be accurate or complete, or that it will be free of errors. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service. That includes journeys that took longer than planned, pandals that were closed, crowd information that turned out to be wrong, missed events, or any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

We may restrict or remove access to the service, or to specific features, if these terms are broken or if the service is being abused.

We may update these terms as the service develops. The date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
